The Brilliant Star

The Brilliant Star has a very bold print in the center block.

The center block is surrounded by Triangles, which make  a Square in a Square.

The star points are made from Flying Geese Patches.  Four Squares in the corner, and the block is done.

(Review the Star Lesson to assemble the block)

I made this block large.  The center square was cut at 4 3/4 - inches.

The Triangles framing the center square were cut from two squares (3 7/8 inches)  cut on the diagonal.

The Geese Units started with a Rectangle of 6 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.  (That would make the small squares 3 1/2 inches)

The corner squares are also 3 1/2 inches.

This block will finish at 12 -inches (12 1/2 inches raw).

Large blocks like this make patchwork quick.  However, if you have studied your lessons, and done the Challenge Blocks, you should have the skills to size it down.
