The Shaded 9-Patch

This is a very easy Quilt Block.  It is very similar to a Log Cabin Block, as half of the block is dark, and half light.

You have all the design possibilities of the Log Cabin when you arrange your blocks.

Value is the key element of this quilt.  You can ignore color when you make this block.  What is important is the value.

This square was made to finish at 6-inches.  Each of the little squares was cut at 2 1/2 inches.

There are two Half Square Triangles in the corners. They use a light and dark fabric.  The squares to make these Triangles were cut at 2 7/8 inches. (Review the link above).

The block, when completed, will measure 6 1/2 - inches.  When it is finished, it will be a 6-inch block.

You can have a lot of fun with this block.  It is a great block to use to make your first quilt.

Sometimes the most simple blocks make the best quilts!
