Buying a piece of furniture that looks splendid in the showroom can at times be a great disappointment upon realizing it’s the wrong one when at home. To get the best out of your shopping experience(s), avoid the following common shopping mistakes and you’ll be able to shop and buy in confidence:
Failure to plan. More often than not, people go shopping without proper judgment of what they actually want, dimensions of the room or even an informed choice which is in line with their long term goals.
Not checking a merchant’s store rating. Choosing the lowest price on furniture without checking a merchant’s store rating can be a regrettable mistake. It is highly suggested to scrutinize their rating well in advance.
Impulse buying: It’s recommended to think about shopping thoroughly before pulling out that bill fold, even if it’s marked 50 percent off. Avoid spending more of your money at the spur of the moment because the item might not work with the style, scale or colors of your room. Impulse buying implies poor budgeting.
Failure to test the furniture. Test the furnishings beforehand, thus sit and stretch on it before buying it out.. This will give you confidence of what you are buying. This applies mostly when shopping for a sofa, recliner and bed.
Not checking a retailer’s furniture return policy. If you choose furniture without checking its return policy, you may find yourself stuck with a piece you cannot return, regardless of your reason.
Quality of Furniture: Just buying a brand name you know is no guarantee you’re getting a good, better or best quality. Unless you know how to tell the differences, avoid paying too much for the quality you’re getting just because you bought a recognized brand name.
Shopping on the weekend. Furniture stores are busiest on the weekend. That’s when the staff is most preoccupied, inattentive and distracted. Try buying on the weekday as you may get a lot of help and attention.
