Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

By Angela Frye

What you will need:

  • 2 to 3 pounds of chicken thighs
  • Small can of plain large biscuits ( make sure they aren't buttered )
  • Salt and pepper to your own taste
  • Large cooking pot
  • Water
  • Three chopped carrots
  • Tongs

Step one: Dump all the uncooked chicken into the large pot.

Step two: Chop your carrots and put them in with the chicken.

Step three: Run hot water over the uncooked chicken and carrots until the water fully covers the chicken. If the water looks like it comes too close to the rim of the pot, then you either need a bigger pot or use less chicken. Add some salt and pepper. Boil the chicken and carrots covered for 30 min.

Step four: After 30 min. pull your chicken out with tongs and put it on a large plate. The chicken will be hot, so be careful. You're going to separate the chicken from the bone and also make sure it's cooked all the way through. If the chicken is still pink boil for another 10-15 min. If it's ready to be taken off the bone, it should practically fall off. An easy way to get the chicken off the bone is by using two forks to separate it out, and so you won't burn yourself.

Step five: after you've removed the bone. Put the cooked chicken back in with the carrots and the homemade chicken broth you just made from boiling the chicken. throw the bones away and make sure it didn't get mixed in with the chicken you just put back in the pot.

Step six: open the can of biscuits and tear or cut into small pieces and add them in with your pot with all of your other ingredients. Continue to boil for ten more min. or until the the biscuits are firm and not gooey.

Step seven: Now spoon into a bowl and let it cool off for about two minutes and dig in!
